Blue takes 12-2 win over Red in FCA Heart of a Champion All-Star baseball game

Facing a pitching staff loaded with college-bound arms, the Blue team scored double figures on the way to a 12-2 win over the Red team in the FCA Heart of a Champion All-Star baseball game on Friday at UT Tyler’s Irwin Field.
The Red team started Tyler Junior College signee Cooper Rawls (Hallsville) and brought in Ryan Humphries (Sulphur Springs), Oral Roberts signee Landon Odom (Gary), Arkansas signee Elijah Trest (White Oak), Nick Hoelscher (Harmony), Luis Valdez (Athens) and Braiden Vickers (Gladewater) as relievers.

The Blue team took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Heath Hood (White Oak) to score Brad Burckel (Lindale), who led off the game with a walk.
In the third inning, Jamey Richey (Lindale) reached on an error, and Cole Williford (New Diana) hit an RBI double to give Blue a 2-0 lead. Williford scored on a balk to make the score 3-0.
The Blue team added four more runs in the fourth inning. Kollin McCartney (Lindale) had a sacrifice fly to score Trent Huff (Elkhart). Hood followed with a two-run single, and John Adams (Canton) added an RBI single to give the Blue team a 7-0 lead.
The Blue team had three more runs in the eighth inning. Brett McGee (Pittsburg) and Connor Lowe (Grand Saline) had RBI singles in the frame. McCartney added an RBI single in the ninth inning.
The Red team scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Colton Oney (Hallsville) had an RBI groundout to score Trest, who was hit by a pitch and had two stolen bases. The other run came on an RBI double by Turner Bannister (Edgewood) in the eighth inning.
Arkansas signee Jacob Burton (New Diana) pitched the first two innings for the Blue team and struck out six batters. Triston McCormick (Sulphur Springs), David Randall (Tyler Lee), Williford, Keylon Mack (Gladewater), McGee and Burckel also pitched for the Blue team.

McCartney, Parker Millsap (Rusk) and Lowe all had two hits for the Blue team, and Burckel, Hood, Adams, Williford, McGee and Huff all added one hit.
Bannister had two hits for the Red team, and Logan Cortez (Winnsboro), and Brady Robinson (Jacksonville) each added a hit.
Head coach Brent Porche and team member Tanner Roach (Whitehouse) of UT Tyler’s national championship baseball team threw out the ceremonial first pitches.
