As 2009 comes to our door, the news says just about everything is awful - it sure looks like a lot of doom and gloom. But our president-elect says "Yes We Can," and I say we will.

I think John Stossel has it right in his Jan. 3 column: There are a lot of politicians qualified for the Senate, as well as most political jobs.


Half of the American work force works in small businesses. To raise taxes on small businesses, as various proposals aim to do, is just plain stupid.


I appreciate the article on President George W. Bush in the Sunday paper examining his legacy. I have mixed feelings of anger and sympathy for Bush.


I would like to see two important things happen in 2009.
