Don't we have a representative government? The council is elected by the people to represent their best interest etc. If they don't then they should be voted out come the next election. It's not practical to hold a public vote on every ordinance that might come before the council. If it were, I'm ready to vote on each individual intersection in town where a U-turn should be allowed or not. Mostly NOT! :)
