I am all for a post-racial, nonpolarized society, but Obama has yet to detail how that would work and on which issues he is willing to move toward the center from positions any reasonable observer would have to describe as far-left, even radical

Cal Thomas is an extreme in his politics and his social conservative attitudes. With columnists like him, spitting out the rhetoric of the biased Fox News Channel, a post-racial, nonpolarized society is pretty tough to achieve. I'm afraid anything Obama says will be described by Cal Thomas as far-left and even radical.

It is true that the Tyler paper and the east Texas area in general are conservative but it would be nice if the local newspaper could have columnists that spoke to both sides of issues and really discuss the pros and cons without the FOX news propaganda.

A good example would be the conflict between global warming supporters and energy oil drilling supporters. Both sides have valid views and yet the issue is usually presented only by one side not only here but in other media forums as well.

Once we recognize that global warming is real but that extreme remedies will also cause great economic upheaval, then maybe we could find some solutions that on one hand allow us to tap more oil resources, build more refineries, etc and still move towards alternate energy sources such as wind, solar, and fuel cell technology that would decrease our dependence on fossil fuels.

There are conservatives out there, such as Tucker Carlson and George Will that have a lot to contribute to a debate and they both do it in a fair, civil, balanced way. Cal Thomas could stand to tear a page from their playbook.

Vote Obama for President
Vote Rick Noriega for US Senate

Cal Thomas may be biased, he also may be correct when it comes to Obama's agenda. The endorsements from Al Gore and John Kerry came on like Obama was underwriting the same old crew of loosers the democrats have fielded in the last 2 elections.

At some point change may actually have to come to the democrats, Once they throw off the old hangers on 60's radicals.

Obama hasn't shown any potential for doing that.
