Post Subject: Obama not right for President for who Read Article
I am curious as to the writer’s authority to declare Senator Obama as not being the right Black President. That type of logic was also used in the fifties and sixties when ordinary Black citizens applied for most jobs that Jim Crow denied us. We had to be the very best to take a minimal pay job. We had to have a college degree to become a clerk behind a cash register. And whom does the writer use to demonstrate his opinion, Jackie Robinson. Yet he fail to understand that it was the Jim Crow mentality that forced Mr. Robinson into the limelight. It wasn’t the Black race choosing Mr. Robinson as our “showcase” for White America to see we could play baseball. Mr. Robinson had a desire as many other Black Athletes during that time to “prove” his ability. But he wasn’t the only one. Now after so many years, many laws on civil rights and perceived enlighten diversity awareness, we find Jim Crow returning. Sadly, many Blacks would have never believed Senator Obama would be in the position he finds himself today. But believe me, he is as qualified for the presidency as Senator Clinton or Senator McCain. I don’t recall finding in the constitution any statement that would bar Senator Obama from the office of President of the United States. Yet there are still those who say, “He is not ready.”
