Actually, Ms. Calvert, she was ranting as it was published under the Raves, Rants & Roses column and as you may see before her paragraph is the four letter word followed by a colon, 'Rant'. By posting anything under this column, you are asking for other people's opinion wether they like those opinions or not. Thats the problem with people these days. Instead of complaining about that commercial why don't you turn it to your advantage? One of the biggest contributions to our youth today concerning STD's is ignorance. They aren't educated about the statistics. Thats whats wrong with this city. Everyone wants to turn his head and say "Oh, its not in our town..." Well you know what? It is in your town and the sooner you accept that and start to be proactive in teaching our youth the risks of not staying abstinent the better. Parents need to talk to their kids and tell them the consequences. I do understand that there is an appropriate age to do this and I can understand not wanting your young children seeing these commercials but, that time will come and will you just still complain about that Valtrex commercial? I hope not.

When it comes to the commercials that fall under the guide lines of "sex", please note that the drug companies that are running those ads, do lots of good for the population. Along with "those" drugs come the commercials about psych meds, cholesterol meds, blood pressure as well as many others. If the government were to only allow certain meds to be advertised, rest assured that the drug companies not only would pull other ads but take with them the programs to help people, like me, to pay for the meds we have to take every month just to live. I know for a fact they are passing out millions in free medication to Americans who can not afford to pay for them.

If saving 100's of dollars a month means I have to put up with unwanted commercials once in awhile, GUESS WHAT? I will put up with the commercials.
