Corbin Priefert writes:

Now dear Democrats, we know you favor more and stronger government programs and higher taxes; do you also still want we taxpayers to pay for abortion on demand plus the idea that you can do better to rule the USA. than can our Constitutional laws? Bewildering it is to realize, how any Christian can consider voting the Democrat ticket these days.

First of all Corbin you (we whoever we is) don't know what Democrats favor and in fact the proposals being brought up call for tax cuts not increases. Second, under the Hyde amendment, the only abortions that can be funded by the federal government is in cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother, so it is not the Federal government funding abortions on demand.

It is our currnet administration that has overlooked the constitution when they began spying on Americans without court orders, when they ignored Habeas Corpus, when they distorted the truth about Iraq, etc etc.

Now as for Christians voting for political candidates, they should vote their conscience. Abortion is not the only Christian issue. There are issues such as poverty, hunger, health, environment, air quality, civil rights and other issues to be considered as well. Is it not a Christian value to be sure the child not aborted does not go hungry.

Voters need to vote responsible and to do that need to investigate all the issues, look at the candidates and then make their deciscion. To do less is a dereliction of duty and citizenship.

Obama for President
Noriega for US Senate

Mr. Priefert’s blog sounds like the typical regurgitation from someone without any forethought just writes what he believed will gain him importance in the opposite political party. He makes it a “we versus them” statement and appears to glance around to see who will follow. Why would anyone believe that everyone who votes in the Democratic Party is single-minded on every issue? I bet everyone in C.P.’s own household doesn’t agree on everything he believes but for reason that escapes me, he writes with authority. I wonder if C.P. realizes that this years’ Democratic Primary was one of the most hard-fought primaries in recent history and it wasn’t because everyone agreed on every issue. Why is it when all else fails people retort their ideal of Christianity in the political process? No political party has a monopoly on God.

Poverty, hunger, health, environment, air quality? So these are now tests of conscience that you can cough up to try and disqualify critics of prominent democrat policy with? Baloney, it's a laundry list of vague platitudes used to sidestep the charges.

To stop a life in the womb because there is no plan to feed the child, or to allow it to happen, is willful killing. First trimester or otherwise. Such fact is inescapable, even for those who sympathize with pro-choice. The choice is and always has been life or death. The democrats spend huge sums, and organize great efforts to keep such killing legal. That much is crystal clear, and people of conscience, be they Christian, Muslim, or Jew, are well aware of it.

Obama will not cross his pro-choice supporters, even if he believes abortion is wrong. He stands to gain by keeping silent or dodging the issue. Therein lies his priority, and his party's well established pattern of ethics.

As usual, you missed the point. I wasn't defending abortion. I was pointing out that the Federal Government doesn't fund abortions unless or in case of rape, incest, or the life of the mother is at stake.

I then pointed out that when voting it is wise to consider a candidate on a variety of issues, not just one. To vote one-issue seems to be a simple-minded approach and fails to take into account the well being of the nation as a whole and the well being of those less fortunate.

Remember the saying "Whatsoever you have done unto the least of these, ye have done unto me". Social issues and programs should be as important an issue as abortion and taken into account when chosing an elected representative (my opinion).

Vote Obama
Vote Noriega
