Post Subject: Tax Increase Thanks To Smith County Commissioners Read Article
First of all, let me point something out to all the tax payers of Smith County. The commissioners court is increasing taxes with out officially increasing taxes. They were for the ESD. Now they are cutting the funds that went to the fire departments. Are they giving the taxpayers a lower rate??? NO! We got a tax increase, they didn't have to adopt a higher rate. Same goes for the appraisal district. Everytime they increase appraisals, Smith County benefits without having to increase taxes. Don't let the appraisal district or the local realtors fool you, our housing market is soft here in this area. Appraisals should have gone down this year.
