3-vehicle wreck kills 4 in Cherokee County

Four Palestine men were killed in a three-vehicle crash early Saturday in Cherokee County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.

All four were pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. Highway 79, about 1.4 miles south of New Summerfield in Cherokee County.

The wreck happened at 7:56 a.m., DPS stated.

DPS identified the dead as Michael Estrada. 24; Christian Josue Chavez, 24; Jaime Estrada Benitez, 24; and Saul Mancera. 22.

They were traveling southbound in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by Michael Estrada that crossed into the northbound lane, according to a report filed by DPS Trooper Wade Chaney, of Jacksonville.
