East Texas Goodwill branch gets new director
Staff Reports

Kimberly B. Lewis will be the next executive director of Goodwill Industries of East Texas, the organization’s board of directors announced Wednesday.

Ms. Lewis will replace David Walton, who is retiring in June. Walton has been executive director since 2000.

“The selection committee is extremely pleased with the outcome of our selection process,” board secretary Mark Reis said in a statement. “We spent a significant amount of time and effort to search both locally and nationally for the best talent available.”

He said they evaluated more than 120 resumes and narrowed it down to three finalists, who all were interviewed in person.

“In the end, we could not be more pleased that Kim Lewis has accepted our offer to lead our Goodwill of East Texas,” Reis said.

Ms. Lewis has more than 12 years of executive-level experience, with her last 10 years as the executive director of Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Inc. in Huntington, W.Va. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the College of Charleston, in Charleston, S.C., and a master’s degree in adult technical education from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.

Ms. Lewis is a member of the national Dell/Goodwill Reconnect E-Recycling Strategic Initiatives Committee, the Goodwill Industries International Diversity Task Force and Goodwill Industries International Conference of Executives Nominating Committee. She has received several awards through the years, including the 2012 Advocacy Leader Award from Goodwill Industries International and the 2012 Women of Color Award from Marshall University.

“I look forward to continuing the path of excellence set forth by the board of directors and staff of Goodwill of East Texas,” Ms. Lewis said. “I am excited to begin the next phase of growth as we propel the organization towards greater levels of mission development and community engagement.”
