BREAKING NEWS: Man arrested after breaking into Army Navy store

A 20-year-old man was arrested tonight after attempting to rob the Army Navy Store.
Around 8:45 p.m., two Tyler police motorcycle traffic officers heard an alarm coming from the building on the 1200 block of South-Southeast Loop 323, according to a news release from the department.

Officers found a large hole cut into the back of the building and saw a man in dark clothing leaving a wooded area and crossing the loop north of the building, the release states.
The man confessed to breaking into the store. He had a pair of gloves and a flashlight from the store as well as a small axe that was allegedly used to cut through the wall, the release states.
He was taken to East Texas Medical Center – Tyler for treatment to an unrelated cut on his leg, and is expected to be taken to the Smith County Jail for burglary of a building after he is released, according to the release.
