P.M. UPDATE - Sen. Rand Paul filibuster, gas prices, royal baby gender reveal

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul began speaking just before 11 a.m. Central time today on the Senate floor in opposition to the nomination of John Brennan to lead the CIA. Rand said that he planned to speak “for the next few hours” in a rare talking filibuster. Paul strongly opposes the Brennan nomination and the Obama administration's use of unmanned aerial drones. Just after the noon hour Central time, Paul was the only senator on the floor. Just 30 people watched from the Senate gallery above while a few security guards, stenographers and Senate pages held their appointed spots on the floor.

For the second week in a row, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Texas dropped. It now costs an average of three dollars and fifty eight cents, according to the Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is five cents less than one week ago and 15 cents less than the national average which is now three dollars and seventy three cents. Refinery maintenance and concerns in January and February of this year drove pump prices sharply higher.
