BREAKING NEWS: Smith County deputies investigate Tuesday evening shooting

Two men were taken to a local hospital Tuesday evening after a shooting near Arp.
John Moore, public relations officer with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office said one man shot another multiple times and then accidently shot himself in the leg at a home on Texas State Highway 135 near Arp.
Moore said officers originally thought the victim’s wounds were in the neck area, but emergency room personnel found multiple wounds on the man at the hospital.

Officers believe both men lived in the neighborhood, but their relationship was unclear as of Tuesday evening, Moore said.
Moore said the shooter was listed in good condition as of press time while the victim was still being evaluated.
The investigation is ongoing.
