MIDDAY UPDATE: Fuel leak on Loop, Tyler helps in statewide warrant sweep
FUEL LEAK ON LOOP
The Tyler Police Department is currently working an incident involving an 18-wheeler that is leaking fuel on Loop 323 north of Commerce Street. Tyler Fire Department is on the scene, along with Tyler Police Officers directing traffic. No roadways are shut down at this time; however the Tyler Police Department requests that motorist avoid this area of the Loop until further notice.
RUSSIANS CLEANUP AFTER METEOR EXPLOSION
Residents of a Russian town continue to clean up after a meteor exploded there Friday. According to the Associated Press, workers are replacing windows that were shattered by a shockwave from the impact, which NASA said released the power equivalent to more than 30 Hiroshima bombs. An official estimated damage at about $33 million, with nearly 1,500 people injured. And scientists have found more than 50 tiny fragments of the meteor from an ice-covered lake … According to the AP, it was the largest recorded space rock to hit Earth in more than a century.
TYLER HELPS IN STATEWIDE WARRANT SWEEP
Starting today, the city of Tyler is participating in a statewide warrant sweep -- where agencies will work together to make arrests and collect fines for outstanding warrants. The Tyler Municipal Court will have extended hours during the sweep, from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. And anyone with warrants is encouraged to contact their local court to get them paid before an arrest is made.
