American Eagle adds new flights
Staff Reports

American Eagle Airlines, on Thursday, added a new arriving and departing flight to Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, according to a press release from the city.

The new flight is scheduled to arrive from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport at 3:40 p.m. daily and depart to DFW at 4:10 p.m., the release stated. The flight replaces one that American has suspended for several weeks this winter, Airport Manager Davis Dickson said in the release.

Tyler Pounds Regional Airport is served by American Airlines to the DFW Airport and United Airlines to Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

More than 144,700 passengers flew in and out of Tyler Pounds Regional Airport last year, officials said in the press release.

"Tyler has needed more available seats in the afternoon flights to and from Dallas-Fort Worth," Dickson said. He said in the release that he is very pleased to see this expansion of commercial air services for customers in the East Texas region.

"I hope to see more as we approach the summer months," Dickson said. He suggested saving money by booking a flight direct from Tyler to the destination of choice.

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport one hour before departure time to allow plenty of time for baggage check-in and to obtain boarding passes, the release stated. Customers who wish to book their flights online can go to the airport website at www.tylerairport.com for links to the American Airlines or United Express Airlines reservation centers, the release stated.
