A single-family home in the 20100 block of Smith County Road 4126 near Lindale is a complete loss after a fire gutted it this afternoon.
Homeowner Sue Ann Crews said she was not at home when the fire started. Her husband Mark was outside the home and smelled smoke, but could not see anything apparent. Mark called his father, who lives next door, to help, but it is believed a passerby called 911.
Nobody was hurt in the fire, Mrs. Crews said, but three Yorkie dogs were lost.
Oren Hale, assistant Smith County fire marshal, said it appears the fire started in the garage, but the exact cause is not yet known.
Mrs. Crews said the family was insured, and does have a place to stay tonight.
