Staff Reports

American State Bank, a local East Texas community bank, presented a check to Cain Elementary School in Whitehouse to help fund a field trip for special education students. The class will take a trip on the Texas State Railroad train from Rusk to Palestine.

“We cannot thank American State Bank enough for their generous donation to the special education program,” Cain Elementary School Principal Sherri Randall said, according to a news release. “The teachers and I are overwhelmed by the kind gift. We are truly blessed.”

After receiving the donation, the teachers presented the bank with an oversized thank you card with pictures of students and teachers from the special education program.

“Words cannot begin to express how thrilled all of us at American State Bank are to be able to work in conjunction with Cain Elementary in order to help send these wonderful students on a field trip to the Texas State Railroad”, Tim Haugh, general manager of consumer finance, said, according to the news release. “These children are truly a gift from God, and they will absolutely love the experience of riding the train.”
