Cherokee County Republicans meeting slated Tuesday

The Cherokee County Republicans will meetTuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Hong Kong Buffett, 1644 Jackson St. in Jacksonville.

State Republican Party Executive Board representative James Wiggins will be the guest speaker. The public is invited.


WOMEN VOTERS
The League of Women Voters Tyler/Smith County will discuss the organization’s priorities for the 83rd Legislative Session at 7 p.m. Monday inside the Genecov Room of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, 315 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.

Education, health care and water will be discussed by league Assistant Vice President for Advocacy, Research and Education at United Way of Tarrant County Patricia Cheong.

Copies of the first issue of the LWV-Texas Legislative Newsletter, will also be available.

The group also announced its 2013 Great Decisions discussions calendar.

Great Decision discussions are annual events will be held each Wednesday at noon at the Tyler Public Library through March 6.

On Wednesday, Mohammed Elibiary will discuss the ouster of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the changes since. Two years later, what is the state of Egyptian democracy and how will the military and civilian government balance power?

On Feb. 13, retired U.S. Army Major Gen. John Furlow, will discuss and assess the threats and challenges of a weak economy, homegrown terrorism and nuclear proliferation.

GRASSROOTS
Hideaway Grassroots America will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lodge in Hideaway.

Tammy Blair will discuss “Decentralization: the Only Path to Liberty.” Mrs. Blair will explore the issues of nullification and dissolution, their similarities and differences. A question-and- answer session will follow the presentation.

Susan Dennison will also present information and an opportunity to sign up as a volunteer for Vacation Liberty School this summer.


CONSERVATIVES
The UT Tyler College of Constitutional Conservatives will host a panel discussion “An Honest Conversation on Race,” featuring Rev. C.L. Bryant and UT Tyler sociology professor Davor Jedlicka from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3500 Old Omen Road.

Admission is free.


WE THE PEOPLE
Grassroots America – We the People will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 10818 University Blvd in Tyler.

National speaker and creator of “The Runaway Slave” documentary, C.L. Bryant, will be the guest speaker. Bryant is a leading black conservative and will address economic liberty and preserving the United States.
