An update on children who were featured and adopted

Since KYTX CBS 19 began the “Children are a Gift” series three years ago featuring local foster children, many East Texas children have gotten adopted. It is a result of the loving and open hearts of so many families in this area.
Here is an update on some of the children who have been featured.

Here is an update on some of the children who have been featured.
HENRY AND BRENDEN
Henry and Brenden were featured in May 2010. They were more than just happy brothers, they were best friends.
“Me and Brenden, we have lots of fun. He makes me laugh. I make him laugh. We play all together,” said Henry.
Brenden added with a big smile, “We love each other!”
At 10 and 7 years old, they were hoping for a second chance at a bright future. “When I grow up I want to be a lawyer because I want to be smart and go to college,” said Brenden.
And now their dreams can come true, thanks to finding their forever family.

MACI
In May 2011, 6-year-old Amacia, or Maci as she liked to be called, was featured.
“She likes to go to dance lessons. She wants to be a ballerina when she grows up,” her case worker, Wendy McMillan, told us.
She was a friendly girl, but foster care had been tough on her said McMillan. “She’s a lovely girl. I think, given the chance to allow her to love and trust another person, she is going to blossom.”
Maci is now blossoming after being adopted by a loving family.

THOMAS, ALEXIS, TIMOTHY
Also in May of 2011 she shared the story of Thomas, Alexis and Timothy who were split up in foster care and wanted to be together again “ ’cause we love each other very much,” said Thomas.
Timothy added, “I always miss them and I don’t like missing them. I just want to see them for my whole life.”
These siblings, ages 12,11 and 8, were ready to start over “because I want to have a normal family again,” said Alexis, or Lexi, as she preferred.
That wish was granted, and these siblings are now back together again, growing up in their forever family. She said, “I love them with all my heart and all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength.”
Timothy added, “I always miss them and I don’t like missing them. I just want to see them for my whole life.”

“I like Hello Kitty,” she said, making her selection of an animal to stuff.
Mariah was a bright child, but cautious because of her past. She needed a flexible family to help redirect her and bring out her potential. Grabbing her new stuffed friend, she asked, “Can I take her home with me?”
Mariah now has a new home, where the love and joy of adoption are helping this little girl gain the confidence she needs.
