A woman missing from southern Smith County was found dead in an apparent suicide, according to the Smith County Sheriff's Office.
She had one apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a Sherriff's Office news release.
Investigators from the Sheriff's Office and Tyler Police Department remained on the scene late Friday near the intersection of Ferguson and Beckham streets, east of downtown Tyler.
Ms. Johnson was reported missing about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. She lived between Whitehouse and Troup.
She was found in her 2006 GMC Envoy by a Tyler Police Department patrolman, according to the news release.
