About 14 Whitehouse-area residents report slashed tires

A slew of slashed tires plagued the Whitehouse area Thursday morning, police said.

Whitehouse Police Chief Craig Shelton said his department was working about 14 separate incidents and believed there could be more.

“One of our officers drove up on a guy in a jeep changing one of those real expensive tires. He thought he had just had a flat, but when the officer looked, he could see the tire had been stabbed,” he said.

Shelton said Smith County sheriff’s deputies were working a case around the Lake Tyler Concession Road area.

“They’re just all over, with cases out toward the lake and some up and down Farm-to-Market 346. Most of the vehicles were parked on the road,” he said.

Shelton said most vehicles had at least two tires flattened, and whoever is responsible likely would face felony charges due to the extent of the damage.
