Lindale State of City address next week
Staff Reports

Lindale city and school leaders will have a State of the City address for residents next week to highlight past, present and future projects and challenges for the city's institutions.

Speakers from the city, school district, chamber of commerce and economic development will share accomplishments, present challe-nges and a vision for moving forward, Mayor Robert Nelson said.

"I expect it to be very informative -- to share with the citizens in Lindale and the Lindale area what we have done, what we are doing now and where we want to go," Nelson said.

The event will be at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 at in the Lindale High School Performing Arts Center, 920 E. Hubbard St. Nelson said he expects the address to end about 8 p.m.

Nelson will begin the address speaking on behalf of the city. He said Lindale ISD Superintendent Stan Surratt will be next, followed by the Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director Shelbie Glover. John Clary, president of the Lindale Economic Development Corporation, will round out the speeches. Nelson said he expects each official to speak for between 15 and 20 minutes.

Before adjourning, the city staff will be on hand for a question-and-answer session.

"I think (as) we share with them ... the direction we are trying to go and where we came from, it should make them proud to be a citizen of Lindale," Nelson said, adding he thinks residents will be proud to see how their tax dollars have been spent.
