John Adams, chief meteorologist with KYTX CBS 19, said the rainy weather is expected to continue into Wednesday and through Thursday morning. Tyler and most of East Texas can expect between three and five inches of rainfall, Adams said.
Matt Hemingway, meteorologist with the National Weather Service — Shreveport, said as of 3 p.m. today, Tyler has received .70 inches or rain.
Tomorrow holds a near-100 percent chance for rain, with a slight chance of severe thunderstorms along and south of Interstate-20, Adams said.
A flash flood warning for all of Smith County will in effect from 4 p.m. today until 4 a.m. Thursday, Hemingway said.
The rain is caused by a low pressure system moving across northern Mexico and South Texas into the area, Adams said.
The system will bring unseasonable high temperatures for January, with today's high in the mid 50s and tomorrow's high in the low 60s. He said Thursday's high is expected to be in the low 70s.
