Snow expected in parts of North Texas

Parts of Texas, including Dallas and Fort Worth, may get a white Christmas, but Tyler is expected to get rain.
National Weather Service meteorologist Ted Ryan said a cold front was expected to roll in late Sunday, bringing an end to an unseasonably warm, 70-degree weekend, but temperatures were to drop into the 50s by today.
Ryan told the Dallas Morning News that rain on Christmas Day, could turn to snow by that evening as temperatures drop to 20 degrees.
Areas of the Texas Panhandle, including Amarillo, also may get snow on Christmas.
Ryan said heavy snow is expected north of the Texas-Oklahoma border.
John Adams, meteorologist with KYTX CBS19, said the possible snowfall will only reach north of Interstate 30. He said Mount Pleasant and Texarkana both have a chance of getting between one and three inches, and a little dusting of snowfall is possible north of I-20.
Adams said a front coming over the southern Rocky Mountains will bring in potential for rain.
“Christmas day … will bring some rain and some strong thunderstorms …” he said. “Christmas night, if we see any snow at all, that’s when we would see it.”
Houston also will see temperatures drop late on Christmas Day. But the coastal city is not expected to have any of the white stuff.
