Brookshire Grocery Co. honored for service
Junior Achievement of the Greater Tyler Area recognized the Brookshire Grocery Co. for its community involvement and industry excellence on Wednesday.
The organization selected the company as its Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Laureate for 2013.
Induction into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame is the highest honor given by the organization, according to its news release.
Laureates must have demonstrated inspiring business and community leadership, industry vision pertaining to their professions, business and civic role modeling and exemplary professional achievements, according to the news release.
Started in Tyler in 1928, the Brookshire Grocery Co. has grown to 150 stores in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Chad Cargile, East Texas President of Regions Bank and Junior Achievement board member, said the organization selected the company for its “outstanding contributions to the Tyler community and for being a role model for all aspiring business leaders and entrepreneurs.
“They embody the spirit of what Junior Achievement represents as an organization which is to inspire and prepare young people for our global economy,” he said Wednesday during a news conference.
Rick Rayford, president/chief executive officer of the Brookshire Grocery Co., said it is a distinguished honor and great privilege to receive this recognition.
