A.M. Update: Red Cross shelter in Coffee City; Mom, son die in car accident
TEXAS HEISMAN WINNER
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, taking college football's top individual prize Saturday night after a record-breaking debut.
Manziel becomes the second Heisman Trophy winner born in Tyler. Earl Campbell won the award playing for the University of Texas in 1977. The Tyler Rose attended the presentation and said there was room for another Heisman Trophy winner from Tyler.

WATER OUTAGE
A Red Cross shelter has been set up for Coffee City residents without water service. The Coffee City Fire Department confirmed there is a water outage in parts of Coffee City. The outage could affect as many as 60 to 80 families in the area. The department said Red Cross has set up a shelter at Farm-to-Market 3506 and County Road 4219, next to city hall, for affected families. The Red Cross will provide water, coffee, snacks and other necessities while the city works to get water running.
WEEKEND ACCIDENT
A mother and her 11 year old son were killed in a 5 car accident this weekend. Trooper Jean Dark, spokeswoman with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said preliminary information suggested that about 3 p.m. four cars were traveling west on Spur 364 in Tyler, and one was traveling east. The lead car was headed west and stopped to make a left turn into a private drive but had to wait on the east-bound car to pass. Trooper Dark said two vehicles came to a stop behind the vehicle making a turn, but the third vehicle at the back of the line did not stop and rear-ended the third vehicle in the lineup, sending it into the eastbound lane. Trooper Dark said preliminary information suggested the vehicle was struck by the eastbound car on the passenger side, killing a mother and her 11-year-old son. The victims were identified as Tammy and Rowdy Latson. Trooper Dark said the incident is still under investigation and because of the number of cars involved, full crash reports were still being compiled as of Sunday afternoon.

Bailey's kick gave Dallas a 20-19 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals that ended a tough afternoon, with the Cowboys' playoff chances enhanced and their heads full of so many thoughts. The Cowboys salvaged the game by scoring on their last two drives against the Bengals including a 27 yard pass from Tony Romo to Dez Bryant. The Cowboys are 7-6 and play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
