A Tyler man has been charged with a second-degree felony after allegedly striking a man with a vehicle last month.

According to Tyler police, Justin Wayne Staples, 30, of Tyler, turned himself in to police on Friday.

Staples was wanted in connection to the death of Chad Everett Davis, 38, of Tyler on Nov. 23, who was struck by a car in a heavily wooded area off Blue Mountain Boulevard.

The department was asked to assist EMS about 1:18 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving on a suspicious incident, where Davis was injured and later died at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, according to a release from the department following the incident.
