Christian college to perform free concert

Jarvis Christian College invites the community to a performance of Handel’s “Messiah” presented by the college’s concert choir.
The concert provides a wonderful oratorio about the life of Christ, according to a Jarvis news release.
It combines choral music and operatic singing to present the drama of the Christmas story.
The performance will feature Jarvis alumni and other choir members as soloists. The Tyler-Strings will provide orchestral accompaniments, according to the news release.
Dr. Gerald L. Bieritz, associate professor of music at the college, will conduct the concert.
The concert is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Smith-Howard Chapel on the Jarvis campus, which is east of Hawkins on Highway 80.
Concert admission is free, but donations are welcome.
