Suspected nightclub shooter surrenders

A man suspected of shooting two people, killing one and injuring another, inside a Tyler ni-ghtclub Monday morning turned himself in to authorities.

Marquel Jermon Scott, 32, of Tyler, booked himself into the Smith County Jail Thursday afternoon, according to a statement from the Tyler Police Department.

On Monday, Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said the shooting happened about 2 a.m. inside the Hyena's Clubhouse, 2126 N. Grand Ave.

Keeston Dwone Fields, 26, of Tyler, died from gunshot wounds, and John T. Woods, 33, of Tyler, was listed in critical condition as of Monday.

An updated status was not available as of Thursday afternoon, and no information has been released on events leading to the shooting.

Scott was wanted on one count of homicide and one count of aggravated assault.

His combined bond was set at $1.25 million, according to a statement the department released Monday.
