Baskin family benefit event set Saturday
Staff Reports

A benefit for the David Baskin Family - David's Day - is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Whitehouse High School football stadium.

In May 2010, Baskin, a resident of Whitehouse, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. The family faces ongoing medical bills. David's Day is being held to raise funds for the family.

Jennifer Eckles, one of the organizers, said the event will begin with a prayer and opening ceremony. It will cost $15 to participate. Participants can walk the track in a show of support and take part in a bake sale, silent auction and other fundraising activities.

At 10:30 a.m. organizers will present a check to the Baskin family from the amount of money raised.
