UPDATE BREAKING NEWS: DPS: Man Involved In Second Lindale Accident Dies

A man died in Lindale Thursday night after an official said he fled from police and lost control of his vehicle.

Dispatch with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the wreck occurred on Farm-to-Market 16 and County Road 4188 in Lindale around 8 p.m.

DPS spokeswoman Jean Dark said Lindale police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver fled. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, Trooper Dark said. Dispatch said the car crashed through a fence on the opposite side of the road from Lindale Veterinary Clinic.

The driver was airlifted to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where he died from his injuries,

His name was not released as of press time.

Texas Department of Public Safety officers are working another wreck in Lindale where a helicopter was called to the scene.

A DPS dispatcher said the one-vehicle accident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday on Farm-to-Market 16, in front of the Lindale Veterinarian Clinic.

The dispatcher said the wreck involved a small dark-colored car, but no other information was available.
