Kwanza Fest 5K run set for Dec. 15

The African-American Cultural Events Committee is sponsoring the Kwanzaa Fest Walk/Run 5K on Dec. 15 at Woldert Park, 701 W. 32nd St., Tyler, according to information from the organization.
Registration will take place on the day of the walk beginning at 7 a.m., according to the announcement. The walk is set to begin at 9 a.m.
The cost to participate will be $5 or $50 for teams.
The purpose of the Kwanzaa Fest Walk/Run is to create awareness of and research funding for Sickle Cell disease and raise money for youth scholarships. The committee also is looking for sponsorship financing.
