Group sponsoring scholarship contest for Eagle Scouts

The Captain William Barron Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution chapter in Tyler is sponsoring the 2012 Eagle Scout Scholarship Essay Contest, said member Stephen Lee. The contest is open to Eagle Scouts who have not turned 19.
Essay topic suggestions include Signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Battle of Point Pleasant, Members of the Continental Congress and Valley Forge.
The National Sons of the American Revolution website at www.sar.org has other essay topic ideas, information and the application form. The essay should be about 500 words or less.
The deadline to submit an entry is Dec. 17. Entries should be sent to Eagle Scout Essay Contest, P.O. Box 7316, Tyler, TX 75711. Awards are to be given at the chapter, state and national level.
