Various themes and decorations will be showcased next month in Overton during the Queen Price Garden Club's annual Christmas Home Tour.

The tour, scheduled for 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2, features the homes of Mark and Robbie Carnes, 512 Kingsway; John and Becky Tyner Hood, 1759 West Highway 918; Raymond and Lauri Thomas, 12685 West Highway 323; and the Queen Price Garden Club House, 200 North Garden Club Drive.

Colleen Randel, Queen Price Garden Club secretary and publicity chairwoman, said attendees can expect to see many creative ideas as well as different kinds of homes. For instance, the exterior of an older home is maintained the way it was; there also is a log home and a home under 10 years old.

Ms. Randel said there is also an interesting collection of homeowners, including a retired librarian from Chapel Hill High School and one who works from home.

She said one homeowner is having a drawing for one of her artistic pieces.

“It's an annual event that gets Christmas season started,” she said, adding the event has had wonderful community participation.

“People should visit the club house. People who have put it together have done some special things. All rooms in the club house are going to be fantastic.”

During the tour, Ms. Randel said garden club members will be in the homes, along with family members, to help guide attendees. Maps also will be available.

Tickets are $5 the day of the tour with proceeds benefiting garden club projects, according to a news release.

Other Overton Christmas events include a parade at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 26, followed by an open house at the McMillan Memorial Library building.
