A writer in the 1800s said it would be the ruin of a nation when the politicians could bribe the people with their own money. The problem is a combination of greedy politicians who find greedy people willing to go for the bribe. And now 51 percent have voted to go for it. President Obama says he has a mandate from the people. What he has is a suicide pact from the bribe-takers. The 49 percent are supposed to say, “OK, you won, here’s our money. We’ll just keep working harder to give you everything you need to pay the bribes.”
