Father and son fishing tourney Saturday at Woldert Park
Staff Reports

Father and son anglers should not miss a special fishing tournament planned Saturday just for them.

Tyler Parks and Recreation's popular Father and Son Fishing Tournament is expected to feature plenty of fun and ample opportunities to land the big one.

The event is set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Woldert Park, next to the Glass Recreation Center, 501 W. 32nd St.

The tournament is open to boys ages 5 to 15 and the significant adult in their lives.

Texas Wildlife and Fisheries Department officials plan to conduct a fishing clinic before the tournament begins.

“David Wilson, a pro bass fisherman, will answer questions you may have during your fishing experience,” Glass Recreation supervisor Anne Santana said. “Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the heaviest and longest fish caught. Also, overall prizes will be given for the first fish caught and the most fish caught.”

Pre-registration is not required but is encouraged for this event. Anglers need to bring their own pole and bait.

This event is sponsored by the Tyler Parks and Recreation Department, David Wilson and the Texas Wildlife and Fisheries Department.
