A five-car accident on Loop 323 stalled traffic and sent four to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North-Northwest Loop 323 at the intersection of Van Highway.
Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said the crash was caused when a driver traveling northbound attempted to take a left from the loop onto Van Highway, and struck another car traveling south.
Martin said the two cars then hit three others.
Four were sent to local hospitals, but Martin said their injuries were not life threatening.

Tyler emergency officials are working to clear a traffic snarl created by a multiple vehicle accident that sent four people to the hospital.
The accident, which involved five vehicles, happened Wednesday afternoon in the 1600 block of Van Highway and North-Northwest Loop 323, according to a Tyler Morning Telegraph reporter at the location.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the accident and more details will be released as they become available.
