Evelyn Bernice Cecil
A funeral Mass for Evelyn Bernice Cecil, 88, of Dallas will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of St. Peter and Paul with Father Frances O’ Dowd officiating. Burial will be entrusted to the Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler. She will be laid to eternal rest in Rose Hill Cemetery near her family.

Evelyn Bernice Cecil, age 88, of Dallas was born Sept. 13, 1923, and entered into eternal rest on Sept. 2, 2012, in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Cleveland Cecil and Agnes Hendrick Cecil, as well as her two brothers, G.C. Cecil Jr. and O.B. Cecil. She is survived by her baby sister, Mary Lynn Tuttle of Tyler. She was known by others as a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She had five nieces and two nephews; one great-niece and five great-nephews, as well as two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew, all of whom will miss her dearly but loved being part of her life and will cherish the many happy memories they shared.

Bernice was a longtime resident of Dallas, having lived there for more than 60 years. She attended school in Dallas and graduated from Adamson High School. Her professional career including many years of dedicated service where she retired from American Cast Iron Pipe Co. as senior vice president in their Dallas offices.

She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church for many years. She lived her faith in every aspect of her life and was a very generous supporter of many charities throughout her life. She also was an avid golfer from the time she was a very young woman and a longtime member of Riverlake Country Club in Dallas. During her golfing career she celebrated two holes-in-one.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, with a Catholic rosary to follow at 6 p.m.
