Temps, humidity on the rise
Surface high pressure, which was over eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas on Wednesday, is moving off to the east today. Moist south to southeast winds are returning to East Texas, increasing temperatures and humidity. An upper-air disturbance over the west will reach the central plains Friday, but will be too far north to provide more than scattered showers and thunderstorms. Even so, there could be some severe thunderstorms along and north of I-20.
High pressure aloft will strengthen over the Rockies this weekend, setting up northerly flow aloft across Texas. Temperatures will warm into the mid-90s by the end of the weekend. A cold front will bring another chance of thunderstorms early next week.
