Wilma Hickson
Wilma Ruth (Baze) Hickson, beloved wife, sister and friend to many, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012. Wilma was born on Nov. 20, 1935, one of seven children, to Chester and Inez Baze of Maypearl. She met Joseph “Joe” Hickson while attending Texas Wesleyan University of Fort Worth in 1953. They fell in love and married on Dec. 15, 1956.

Wilma and Joe’s careers took them from Fort Worth to Farmington, N.M., Denver, Colo., Midland, Houston, Traverse City, Mich., and Bakersfield, Calif., before they retired in Tyler in 1990. They now call Waxahachie their home. Wilma was an accomplished accountant. She loved spending her spare time sewing, traveling, cooking, exercising and shopping. Wilma was a woman of great Christian faith. She was involved with the church as a true servant and as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joe; one brother, R.C. Baze and wife Janet of Gonzales, La.; one sister, Virginia Trull of Waxahachie; one sister-in-law, Joyce Shinn and husband Gerald of Azle; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.

A memorial service for Wilma is planned Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Family and friend visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m.
