Saturday fire damages offices in commercial building

Fire substantially damaged the offices of Estes Roofing in a strip commercial building complex at 16337 Farm-to-Market Road 2493 near Tyler on Saturday, Keith Tate, assistant chief of Flint-Gresham Fire Department, said.
Approximately 35 firefighters from several area fire departments responded after a Smith County deputy driving by spotted smoke and called in the fire alarm about 7:45 p.m.
Departments responded from Flint-Gresham, Noonday, Bullard, Whitehouse and Tyler to the fire in Estes Roofing in a four-unit complex.
Other units suffered only smoke damage, but there was substantial damage to Estes Roofing, Tate said.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 to 45 minutes after the call came in, Tate said.
The cause of the fire was being investigated and had not been determined as of about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
