Jacksonville Man Charged With Theft
A second suspect was arrested on charges related to battery thefts in Cherokee, Angelina, Houston and Nacogdoches counties.
Justin Ray Pinckard, 23, of Jacksonville, was arrested on July 12, and charged with one count of theft, a state jail felony, according to a statement from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Cherokee County Detective Joey Ray obtained video footage of Pinckard and Ricky Schakosky, who was arrested June 27, at a local recycler as authorities said they dropped off 18 industrial batteries, weighing about 1,500 pounds.
Although Cherokee County jail personnel confirmed on Friday evening that Schakosky still is jailed there, they declined to state the charges against him and the bond amount.
The weight of the batteries can be seen in the video of the car, which they are accused of using to haul the batteries in the back seat and trunk.
The video of the car shows it backing up to the loading dock, and the rear of the vehicle is inches from the ground, according to the statement.
Cherokee County Justice of the Peace Brenda Dominy set Pinckard's bond at $7,000 for the state jail felony.
