Jacksonville Police Investigating Fight That Left 2 People Injured

Jacksonville Police have been investigating a fight that injured two people.

The fight occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Palestine Street.

Sgt. Daniel Franklin said there was a party on the property of one residence, and beer cans were reportedly thrown into another yard. The residence and the one next door belong to rival gang members, he said.

“A person at the other residence got mad (about the beer cans) and confronted the actor,” Franklin said. “The actor hit the guy in the nose, which bloodied his nose and possibly broke it.”

When others saw the person was assaulted, the actor was confronted, and a big fight broke out between a group of people from both residences, he said.

At some point during the fight, he said there was a shotgun blast into the yard, and rock fragments likely spread, causing minor injuries to an individual’s leg.

Someone also was stabbed at one point during the fight.

No arrests had been made as of Wednesday evening. Franklin said some of the victims may not want to pursue charges.
