Big Thank You, July 15
On the Fourth of July, we all went to the Holt House. It was a wonderful day, and we all had a wonderful time. It was my 26th year to spend the Fourth at that great old place. My friend, Ruth Weston and I were the oldest there (98 and 99).

We had a good lunch of fried chicken, ice cream, watermelon, potato salad and so much more. We played games, enjoyed a special salute to our country by members with poems and readings. Folks filled that old house: members came for free all day. Nonmembers came too, but had to pay a little. The piano player kept us busy singing all of the wonderful old patriotic songs.

No one has to be “home alone” on a holiday as long as there is the Holt House.
