Vote For Smith, July 15
I met Larry Smith a year ago. At his first fund raiser, I was impressed when he said “If anyone on my team talks negative about any candidate in this race, they will no longer be on my team. I am not running against these men, I am running for the sheriff of Smith County.”
I have been to several more fund raisers and listened to him. I followed the debates, and I have come to admire this gentleman.
Now Mr. Smith is in a run-off election for this position. There is no doubt that he has the most law enforcement experience, and experience is the best attribute a person can possess who will be the head of law enforcement in our county. He will combine professional and personal characteristics and apply them to his administration. He will work well with others, not only within his office, but within the community.
He has demonstrated his ability to interact with his counterparts in state and federal agencies. He is a proven leader who will listen to the citizens of Smith County. He is mixed and molded by physical and mental traits, intelligence, good attitude and ethics. He won't play politics, regardless of the political heat. Larry Smith has stepped forward to be our new sheriff. I believe he is a right step in the right direction for a new direction for law enforcement in Smith County.
