Whitehouse Grad Placed In Charge Of Submarine Reactor
First Class Petty Officer Justin Phillip Law, a graduate of Whitehouse High School, is in charge of the nuclear reactor on the newly commissioned USSN 782 Mississippi Submarine.

Law is stationed in Groton, Conn., and has been in the Navy 14 years.

He is the son of Dana Law and grandson of Dick and Karon Gilmore, Joe and Jullianne Domm and Cora and Ronnie Williamson, all of Tyler. His wife, Brandi, and children reside in Socia, N.Y.

Navvy Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew P. Blair, son of Tina Moser, of Euless, and Teddy Blair, of Mineola, and sailors from the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) volunteered to assist in the Special Olympics Washington (SOWA) competition at the Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, Wash.

The annual Southwest Spring Games event kicked off with a track and field competition, where Sailors supported the participating athletes by guiding and cheering them to the finish line.

Volunteers often are the biggest contributors to the manpower requirements to put on events like this.
Throughout the sporting events, sailors were spread along the football and track field, filling in as time-keepers, award presenters, data entry personnel, announcers and judges.

Established in 1976, SOWA is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization. The Special Olympics are open for participation by disabled athletes ages eight and older.

According to the Special Olympics website, the vision of Special Olympics is to help bring all persons with intellectual disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens.

The Regional, three-day event has been hosted at Mount Tahoma High School for the last five years. All four regions in the state hold similar events and participants who place at the regional competition will go onto the state competition.

Blair is a 2009 graduate of Trinity High School of Euless.

Navy Seaman Recruit Taylor E. Green and Resundria R. Sharp, daughter of Tammy D. and Calvin J. Sharp of Pittsburg, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Green, son of Darlene J. and Robert M. Tackett, of Tyler, is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School.

Sharp, daughter of Tammy D. and Calvin J. Sharp and granddaughter of Delois D. Brown, all of Pittsburg, is a 2007 graduate of Daingerfield High School.
