Tyler ISD Board Begins Discussions About Interim Superintendent

The Tyler ISD board of trustees discussed hiring an interim superintendent during their first meeting since the announcement that Dr. Randy Reid is the lone finalist for Keller ISD’s top post.

TISD trustees met for about two hours today at the district administration building. Board President Michelle Carr said they discussed hiring an interim superintendent from within and outside the district.

“Right now, we don’t have a name of anybody, but we have some people that we’ll be probably contacting and work from there,” she said.

She said the board is looking to hire an interim who has previous experience as a superintendent and has served as an interim before. Retired superintendents often regularly serve as interims, Mrs. Carr said.

She expects TISD to name an interim superintendent after July 23, the date when the Keller school board is scheduled to vote on officially hiring Reid.

State government code requires a school district to wait 21 days before officially hiring a lone finalist.
