New Art Exhibit Unveiling Set For Saturday In Tyler
A new exhibit at Gallery Main Street opens this week at a new time.

The special opening reception of "Macro: The Art is in the Details" is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, 110 W. Erwin St.

"Since the gallery opened in late 2009, we have enjoyed many Thursday night opening receptions," gallery curator Ashley Foxx said in a prepared statement. "In a year's time, these receptions collectively create 2,000 visits to downtown."

In analyzing the needs of artists and audiences, it was decided to move the opening receptions to Saturdays so people can enjoy a multifaceted evening that also could include dining at a nearby restaurant and stopping by Liberty Hall, she said.

Saturday's reception is expected to feature an opportunity to meet the artists, as well as live music, food and beverages. Attendance is free and open to the public.

"We hope the new day of the week and the extended hours will encourage even more people to experience the arts in downtown Tyler," Ms. Foxx said.

"Macro" is set to feature nearly 30 diverse works of art by more than a dozen artists, who created cast bronze sculptures, photographs, watercolors, assembled art pieces and others.

Admission to the gallery is free.

The public can view exhibits during the gallery's hours, which are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
