DPS Identifies Still-Wanted Driver
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers identified Saturday one of two men who fled after troopers attempted to stop their vehicle for a traffic violation Friday night, but neither of the men had been apprehended as of late Saturday.

Trooper Richard Hoover identified the driver of the 2001 Dodge pickup as Christopher Morris, 30.
Morris was passing in a no-passing zone Friday night and initially kept driving when troopers tried to stop his vehicle, Hoover said. Morris eventually pulled over on County Road 47, jumped out and ran into the woods, a DPS spokesperson said.

A manhunt followed, but law enforcement officers lost track of Morris at a creek and discontinued the manhunt.

The truck was registered to Antonia Fray, of Tyler, Morris’ girlfriend/fiancée with whom he was living on U.S. Highway 64 West, Hoover said

In the meantime, a passenger in the truck took off in the vehicle and has not been identified.
Law enforcement officers are asking the public to notify police if they have information about Morris’ whereabouts.

Morris will be charged with felony evading arrest in a vehicle, Hoover said, as well as outstanding warrants in Smith County for possession of marijuana and in Van Zandt County for probation violation, Hoover said.
