Bids For Kids Online Auction Starts Today

The 13th annual Bids for Kids online auction starts today at www.tylerpaper.com and runs until June 26.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Kimberly Brown, development assistant at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County. “Our goal this year is to raise $80,000 for the fight against child abuse.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County advocates for children who have been physically or sexually abused. The organization works with law enforcement and prosecutors to minimize the trauma to the whole family.

“We bring together agencies and caring professionals, help the child and family heal, offer access to Smith County resources, provide support in going through the court system, supply child abuse prevention in our community and stock an emergency resource program through The Rainbow Room,” Brown said in a written release.

Since the organization was founded in 1996, it has coordinated more than 8,000 cases.

All 100 items for the auction were donated by local businesses and individuals. Starting bids are half retail value. Items include vacations and getaways, children’s camps, family passes to Tyler attractions, date night packages, fitness packages, spa visits, and items for pets.

“Without the gracious support of the community, the CAC could not exist,” Brown said.

The online auction is presented through eBay’s Good Works. All proceeds go to the Children’s Advocacy Center. Visit www.tylerpaper.com and click on the Bids for Kids icon to enter the auction.
